Barbara Reese,

Barbara Reese is the Owner and Director of the Resilience Therapy Collaborative, LLC, and the Resilience DBT & Eating Recovery Program.

Ms. Reese has had the privilege of serving the families of the wonderfully diverse Essex County for over 25 years, providing individual and family therapy to families seeking  professional help to assist them to find strength and resiliency within.

Ms. Reese in an Intensively-Trained DBT Practitioner, trained by Marcia Linehan's Institute - Behavioral Tech. As the Director of the Resilience DBT Skills Program, Ms. Reese provides a Comprehensive Dialectical Behavioral Therapy – Individual DBT Therapy, Mindfulness Meditation, DBT Skills Group Training, and Phone Coaching. As an Intensively-Trained DBT Practitioner, she conducts a formal DBT-ED Consultation Team. Her post-graduate training in this broad-based CBT method includes ERP – Exposure and Response Prevention for the anxiety disorders.

Ms. Reese is an experienced Eating Disorder Practitioner and Consultant, who treats the full-range of eating disorders – Anorexia, Bulimia, and Binge-Eating Disorders – Pediatric, Teen, and Adult, both male and female, and is trained in the following evidenced-based approaches. She is:

* is Certified Eating Disorder Specialist-Supervisor CEDS-S, Certified by the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals
* Certified Family-Based Treatment (FBT) Therapist, certified by the Institute for  Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders, the training institute of Drs. Locke and LeGrange.
* Has a Certificate in CBT-E for Eating Disorders by the Credo-Oxford Institute of Christopher Fairburn, in the United Kingdom.

 She has lectured widely on The Prevention and Treatment of Eating Disorders and on the Psychology of Body Image – in a Multi-Cultural Framework, in schools, facilities, national/international conferences, and for athletic forums.

Ms. Reese is a NJ Approved Clinical Social Work Supervisor

She was the Coordinator of A.N.A.D. of Northern NJ, for 15 years, which is a monthly Eating Disorder Support Group held at The Saint Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center in Livingston. She coordinated teams of Professional and Recovered Group Facilitators, for this program that is free and open to the public. This support group site was recognized in the Forum for the Academy of Eating Disorders Journal, in 2009. 

Ms. Reese is an experienced Child/Adolescent Therapist and treats toddlers to teens, with DBT and CBT, play therapy, mindfulness meditation, stress reduction, and creative arts therapy, She has worked in leading teaching hospitals in NYC in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry, such as Mt. Sinai Medical Center and Beth Israel Medical Center. 

She has extensive experience with Grief/Loss Counseling. She works with young children and families who are also supported by grief organizations such as Rainbows, Good Grief, and C.O.P.s – Concerns for Police Survivors, for families effected by a parent killed in the line of duty. For Children and Adolescents going through Separation and Divorce and blended family process, she has basic training in Collaborative Divorce Family Law and uses this constructive approach to counseling children and families. She is a member of the Trauma Coalition of Essex County.

Throughout her professional career, she has utilized the Arts in Psychotherapy in her clinical work. Her graduate degrees are from Pratt Institute in Expressive Arts Therapy, (MPS), and from NYU in Clinical Social Work, (MSW) She is a Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist and Supervisor (BC-DMT) for over 10 years in leading NYC Hospitals, supervising graduate dance therapy interns nationally and internationally. This mind-body blend is a core foundation in all of her clinical work.
